GARAGE SALE PROGRAM CASE STUDY
The Billings Gazette partners with Classified Concepts to deliver a profitable print, online, text and mobile app solution for their garage sale readers and advertisers. It’s just one of the partnerships the two share.
Garage Sales are a huge deal in Billings, with hundreds of sales every weekend during the warmer months of the year. The Billings Gazette places thousands of ads throughout the summer season, and bundle all of their ads to include presence in print, online, via text codes, as well as on their custom branded mobile app. The Gazette charges $29.95 for a one day run, or $39.95 for a 3 day run. Along with driving classified revenue, the printed Garage Sale map aids in single copy sales on high traffic days during the season.
In 2011, for the first time Billings launched their Garage Sale App alongside their traditional print and online maps. The App hosts a full list of Garage Sales with features such as multi-stop driving directions and GPS, saved sales, search by keyword, email alert signup and more. In addition to the incremental digital and print revenues each ad provides, they sold a sponsorship to a local thrift shop, offering a significant amount of value to their sponsor in print, online, and on the mobile application.
